Effi Briest - Rhizomes

The Sacred Bones label is never too far from the pages of this blog. But I never imagined they'd team up with Brooklynites Effi Briest, not sure why it just didn't seem a fit.

That was until I had my first listen to their new LP Rhizomes, released on Sacred Bones 24th May. A while coming, the LP takes tracks recorded last year and throws in a couple of oldies originally released on Loog Records for good measure.

From the intense title track to the chanting, hypnotic and circular sounds of Mirror Rim, its clear the girls of Effi Briest have found the perfect outlet for their sounds.

Nice Face

The latest in a long line of fuzzed out punk releases from the alternative universe that is the Sacred Bones label, Nice Face have a new LP that touches on ghetto blast thrash, sinister electro and gutsy new wave, keeping things interesting without surrendering to the limitations some lo-fi luminaries have been known to self-impose upon their work.
